The Challenge

Leading Wedding & Entertaining Expert, David Tutera is hailed as an artistic visionary whose ability, uniquely creative talents and outstanding reputation have made him a tremendous success in the lifestyle arena. Tutera has created a name for himself by taking his passion for designing spectacular events and transforming it into a lifestyle. He continuously exceeds the expected with an unmatched level of inspiration, imagination and innovation to create the latest trends in entertaining.

When VSG first met the David Tutera team, they had just received word that their new show “My Great Big Live Wedding” had been greenlighted by Lifetime. David would be planning live weddings for deserving couples across the country— dressing them in fashion of his own design. The catch? We had a little over 3 months until the premiere! In that time, David‘s team needed an ecommerce platform to launch his new bridal fashion line, a complete redesign and development of his main brand’s website, and a whole lot of design and marketing support.

What We Did

With 3 months on the clock, we first set out to build a strong foundation for the David Tutera (DT) Brand that would scale far beyond these initial projects. We developed brand assets and guidelines to make sure all partners were making consistent choices. And then we built templates for social media and collateral on our Suitespace platform, so the DT team could easily access and customize materials. We also onboarded DT to our Marketing Automation Platform, AMS, so we could begin tracking marketing efforts and compiling data in its CRM. With both of these platforms in place, DT now had a way to create and access marketing materials, gather data, and send out communications digitally.With the foundation set, it was time to design and build websites! Although the ecommerce portion of David’s business would be separate from his main brand, we didn’t want to create the two in silos, but rather have them work cohesively together. To do this, we set a strategy to create one single site with layered navigation on two platforms- WordPress and Shopify. This gave us the easy to use Estore solution that the DT team could manage efficiently in the future AND the functionality of WordPress to build a custom, gorgeous main site for David’s work and brand.David’s show premiered on February 5th, 2019 and will run for 8 weeks. Each week, VSG supports the launch of new fashions, unveiled after each deserving couple’s live wedding on their ecommerce platform. We also continue our partnership through a digital retainer, building upon our marketing efforts using both Suitespace and AMS.
